Purpose

Kerr County Federal Credit Union (“KCFCU,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) may use SMS/text messaging to communicate with members and applicants regarding credit union business, including account servicing, lending, loan servicing, collections, appointments, follow-up items, and other member service communications.

These messages may be sent by authorized KCFCU employees or service providers using a computer-based messaging platform. This text messaging program is intended for credit union business communications and is not intended for marketing or promotional messaging.

Consent to Receive Text Messages

By providing a mobile phone number to KCFCU and consenting to receive text messages, members, and applicants authorize KCFCU and its service providers to send text messages to the mobile number provided for account-related, lending, servicing, collections, and other credit union business purposes.

Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of membership, obtaining a loan, or receiving credit union services, unless text messaging is necessary for a specific service you request.

You are responsible for ensuring that the mobile phone number you provide to KCFCU is accurate and current. If your mobile number changes, you should notify KCFCU promptly.

Types of Text Messages

Text messages may include, but are not limited to:

  • Loan application or loan servicing communications

  • Loan document or signing reminders

  • Payment reminders

  • Collections-related communications

  • Account servicing questions• Appointment or follow-up reminders

  • Member service communications related to KCFCU business

Message frequency may vary based on your relationship with KCFCU, account activity, loan status, or service needs.

Message and data rates may apply. Contact your mobile carrier for details about your text messaging plan. KCFCU does not charge a separate fee for receiving text messages.

Opt-Out Instructions

You may opt out of receiving text messages from KCFCU at any time by replying STOP to a text message from KCFCU.

KCFCU will also treat any clear request to stop receiving text messages as a revocation of consent, whether received by text message, phone, in person, or another reasonable method. Examples may include a member stating that they no longer wish to receive text messages or asking KCFCU not to text them.

After an opt-out request is received, KCFCU will process the request as soon as reasonably practicable and within the time required by applicable law. Once processed, KCFCU will not send further text messages from that messaging program or number unless you provide consent again.

Privacy Policy for Text Messaging

KCFCU respects member privacy. Mobile phone numbers and text messaging consent records are used for credit union business purposes, including account servicing, lending, collections, member support, and related communications.

KCFCU does not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers or text messaging consent information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

KCFCU may share information with service providers as necessary to deliver text messages, support credit union operations, comply with legal or regulatory requirements, protect KCFCU’s rights and interests, protect members, or as otherwise permitted by law.

Information Security

KCFCU takes reasonable measures to protect member information, including mobile phone numbers and text messaging records. However, text messaging may not be encrypted and may not be appropriate for transmitting sensitive personal, account, or financial information.

You should not send sensitive information by text message, including full account numbers, Social Security numbers, card numbers, PINs, passwords, security codes, or other confidential information.

KCFCU may send general servicing or follow-up messages by text, but KCFCU will not ask you to provide your password, PIN, full Social Security number, or full account number by text message.

Member Responsibilities

You should notify KCFCU if your mobile phone number changes, if you no longer wish to receive text messages, or if you believe a text message was sent to you in error.

You should contact KCFCU immediately if you have concerns about the authenticity of a text message claiming to be from KCFCU.
